What are Lucid Patent® FTO Charts ?
A Lucid Patent® FTO chart is a matrix representation of claim coverage determined by a Lucid Patent attorney. The attorney creates (authors) Scope Concepts, usually copied or derived from actual claim language, that describes claim limitation areas and which indexes claims that are limited to the Scope Concepts.

Lucid Patent® FTO charts are interactive charts. The user evaluates whether Scope Concept (SC) index entries are applicable to a product or not, and enters these finding into the chart. For each Scope Concept that is not applicable to the product, all claims indexed to that SC become excluded. When all Scope Concepts in the Lucid Patent® FTO chart have been evaluated for the product, the completed interactive chart shows which patents and claims have been excluded from coverage and why. It also shows whether some claims may need more detailed review to achieve Freedom To Operate.
